Bryce Harper gets his Mercedes pimped out with a curly W

Washington Nationals rookie Bryce Harper had his Mercedes-Benz customized with a curly W and a glowing bat enclosure in his trunk.

Washington Nationals rookie Bryce Harper's Mercedes-Benz CLS is delivered by Pro Motorsports owner Jim Lewis to Harper’s neighborhood in Las Vegas after a month of custom detailing work in Scottsdale, Ariz. Harper had his Mercedes-Benz customized with a curly W and a glowing bat enclosure in his trunk. The car was originally spotted by The Nats Blog on July 3 and The DC Sports Bog reported on it on July 5.

To keep to a monochromatic color scheme, many of the car's parts were replaced with pitch-black carbon-fiber pieces crafted with a laser. Carbon fiber, which is light, strong and expensive, has the look of woven cloth.

The car features three-piece COR wheels; the spokes were painted white to match the car. Lewis replaced the original chrome lip, which is just inside the rubber, for a custom-carved piece of carbon fiber.

The grill and Mercedes badge still have chrome components, but they are now colored black with carbon fiber.

Many details on the car’s rear were replaced. On the left is “BAM 34,” which, according to Dan Steinberg, signify his initials, Bryce Aron Max, and his Nationals number, 34. In the center, the Mercedes insignia has been replaced with a curly W.

Pro Motorsports owner Jim Lewis cut quite a few curly W’s trying to get it just right. Lewis gave Bryce Harper a stack of 20 extra W’s.

When the trunk is open, a custom enclosure for Harper's Marucci bats is revealed. “FBI or Secret Service agents might keep their weapons in their trunks. I figure his weapon is his baseball bat, so I put it in the trunk,” Pro Motorsports owner Jim Lewis said. The trunk bat holder can be interchanged with a regular trunk piece.

A plaque with Harper's name adorns the subwoofer enclosure. The white piece, illuminated by hidden light-emitting diodes, glows whenever the trunk is open.
