George Mason’s Luke Hancock still undecided on transfer

By ,

George Mason sophomore Luke Hancock has had several conversations with new coach Paul Hewitt but has yet to decide whether to remain with the Patriots or transfer, Athletic Director Tom O’Connor said Tuesday.

Hancock, a 6-foot-5 swingman who led the team in assists and was third in scoring, “is a mature kid and he’s handling it in a mature way,” O’Connor said. There is no timetable on a decision, he added.

Hancock, who made the game-winning three-pointer against Villanova in the NCAA tournament, received permission last week to explore the possibility of transferring — a move spurred by the departure of longtime coach Jim Larranaga to Miami.
