Potomac, unbeaten in the Cardinal in 2011-12, swept three games from Forest Park last season after losing 19 of the previous 20 games in the series. The Panthers’ three losses were to Top 20 teams Paul VI and Riverdale Baptist and to Princess Anne in the state quarterfinals. Potomac plays at Riverdale on Jan. 12. Porter has committed to Stetson. Panthers senior guard Hannah Hayes (44 three-pointers) tore her anterior cruciate ligament in fall league. Jonae’ Guest is another 6-3 post for Potomac. . . . Mason (Virginia) averaged 24 points and six rebounds and entered the season with 1,334 career points. . . . The player who would have been Osbourn Park’s leading returning scorer, Diamond Mickle, transferred to Riverdale Baptist. . . . Vernon Lee takes over at Freedom-Woodbridge, where the Eagles await the return of Harris (14.2 ppg) from a knee injury. . . . Junior guard/forward Sydney White averaged 11.5 ppg last year for Hylton. . . . Gar-Field’s new coach is Amy Smith.
