Skinny
Gwynn Park captured the league title last season in a competitive race before falling in the Maryland 2A South playoffs to eventual state champion Calvert. The Yellow Jackets lost 6-foot-3 center Ashanti Freeland to private school power Riverdale Baptist but return plenty of firepower led by Lucas, a dynamic point guard receiving Division I interest. . . . Friendly has increased its win total in each of Coach Carroll Holmes’s first two seasons, and the Patriots bring back three starters off a squad that posted 19 victories a year ago. . . . Hill, a Howard University signee, begins her senior season needing four points to become the first player in school history to reach 1,000 for her career. . . . Central (7-17) graduated the area’s leading scorer in guard Kendeedra Morgan, who put up 28.7 points per game last season.
