The skinny

Calvert returns three starters from last year’s team that won a third straight Maryland 2A state championship, but loses first-team All-Met guard Alexis Smith. Center Daijha Thomas, a Towson recruit, averaged 15.6 points per game last season. . . . North Point lost three starters from last year’s undefeated Maryland 4A championship squad including All-Met Tasia Bulter, now at Syracuse, and 6-1 forward Khaila Prather, who transferred to Riverdale Baptist for her senior year. The Eagles will rely on guards KanDeon Niravanh and Montana Wigfall. . . . Westlake might bring the most experienced squad to the conference with four returning starters from last year’s Maryland 3A South region finalists. Guard Shanea Butler scored at least 20 points in seven games last season. . . . Chopticon (17-7) lost six players to graduation and injury but has three-time first-team All-SMAC selection Tyaira Priest , a point guard who averaged 15.5 points per game and led the conference in three-pointers. 6-4 center Ericka Boyden also returns. . . . Senior power forward/center Keisha Davis will lead Thomas Stone (12-11) on and off the court in her fourth year on varsity. . . . Great Mills (9-13) returns two starting forwards and a guard and gained forward Jamesha Gray from Calvert.
