Maryland high school football projected playoff pairings

Below are the updated projected playoff pairings for the 10 public school regions in Maryland that contain schools in our coverage area. *Note: All projections are unofficial. The MPSSAA will release official matchups in the coming days.

Maryland 4A North

In: Paint Branch (9-1), Perry Hall (9-1), Howard (8-2), Sherwood (7-3)

Skinny: No. 1 Paint Branch will host No. 4 Sherwood, whom the Panthers beat, 55-21, on Nov. 1. No. 2 Perry Hall will host No.3 Howard.

Maryland 4A South

In: Suitland (10-0), DuVal (9-1), Wise (7-3), C.H. Flowers (7-3)

Skinny: No. 1 Suitland will host No. 4 C.H. Flowers, whom the Rams beat, 27-6, on Oct. 26. No. 2 DuVal will host No. 3 Wise, whom the Tigers beat, 14-13, on Sept. 13.

Maryland 4A East

In: Old Mill (10-0), Meade (8-2), Broadneck (8-2), Arundel (8-2)

Skinny: No. 1 Old Mill will host No. 4 Arundel, whom the Patriots beat, 24-14, on Sept. 13. No. 2 Meade will host No. 3 Broadneck, whom the Mustangs beat, 26-20, on Nov. 1.

Maryland 4A West

In: Quince Orchard (9-1), Northwest (8-2), Gaithersburg (8-2), Clarksburg (7-3)

Skinny: No. 1 Quince Orchard will host No. 4 Clarksburg, whom the Cougars beat, 35-7, on Sept. 6. No. 2 Northwest will host No. 3 Gaithersburg in a rematch of the Trojans’ 26-6 win on Sept. 28.

Maryland 3A South

In: Huntingtown (9-1), Lackey (8-2), Stephen Decatur (7-3), Westlake (6-4)

Skinny: No. 1 Huntingtown will host No. 4 Westlake. No. 2 Lackey will host No. 3 Stephen Decatur.

Maryland 3A East

In: Glenelg (9-1), City (8-2), River Hill (8-2), Reservoir (7-3)

Skinny: No. 1 Glenelg will host No. 4 Reservoir, whom the Gladiators beat 24-6 on Sept. 20. No. 2 City will host No. 3 River Hill.

Maryland 3A West

In: Linganore (9-1), Damascus (9-1), Urbana (8-2), South Hagerstown (9-1)

Skinny: No. 1 Linganore will host No. 4 South Hagerstown. No. 2 Damascus will host No. 3 Urbana.

Maryland 2A South

In: Patuxent (10-0), Gwynn Park (10-0), Douglass (8-2), Hammond (6-4)

Skinny: No. 1 Patuxent will host No. 4 Hammond. No. 2 Gwynn Park will host No. 3 Douglass, whom the Yellow Jackets beat, 40-28, on Sept. 21.

Maryland 2A West

In: Middletown (10-0), South Carroll (8-2), Catoctin (7-3), Poolesville (7-3)

Skinny: No. 1 Middletown will host No. 4 Poolesville. No. 2 South Carroll will host No. 3 Catoctin.

Maryland 1A North

In: Surrattsville (8-2), Forestville (8-2), Sparrow’s Point (7-3), FAET (7-2)

Skinny: No. 1 Surrattsville will host No. 4 FAET next week. No. 2 Forestville will host No. 3 Sparrows Point.
