Bishop O’Connell graduate Kendall Marshall becomes the latest Washington area product to make the pros when the Phoenix Suns selected him with the 13th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft.

Roy Hibbert: Georgetown Prep | Indiana Pacers

After growing into his frame and developing his skills throughout high school and college, Hibbert has emerged in the NBA. He averaged 12.8 points and 8.8 rebounds for the Pacers in the 2011-12 season.

Will Montgomery: Centreville | Washington Redskins

Montgomery played tight end as a 175-pound sophomore at Centreville High. He grew to 244 pounds as senior and made the deciding play as the Wildcats won the Virginia AAA Division 6 championship over DeAngelo Hall and Deep Creek in 2000. Montgomery now plays on the Redskins’ offensive line.

Vernon Davis: Dunbar | San Francisco 49ers

Davis finished his high school career with 96 catches for 2,012 yards and 21 touchdowns. As a tight end with the 49ers he caught 67 passes for 792 yards and six touchdowns during the 2011-12 season.

Kevin Durant: Montrose Christian | Oklahoma City Thunder

Durant averaged 23.6 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game while shooting 54 percent from the field in one season at Montrose Christian. Now at age 23, he’s already led the NBA in scoring three times.

Joe Haden: Friendly | Cleveland Browns

As a high school senior Haden sparked Friendly to a 14-0 record and the Maryland 3A championship in 2006. He is now playing for the Cleveland Browns.

As a senior she led Forest Park to its first undefeated season. The U.S. national team standout is currently recovering from a serious knee injury.

Josh Wilson: DeMatha | Washington Redskins

Wilson starred for the Stags as a wide receiver, cornerback and kick returner. He signed with the Redskins before the 2011-12 season.

Marissa Coleman: St. John’s | Los Angeles Sparks

Coleman led St. John’s into the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference final every season. As a senior she scored 21 points a game. She now plays for the WNBA’s Sparks.

The running back led Westfield High to a 14-0 season and Virginia AAA Division 6 championship in 2003. Royster is now entering his second season with the Redskins.

Warley, who first emerged while playing for the Warriors, now takes the court for the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury.

West averaged 20.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.1 steals in his final high school season. Now an eight-year NBA veteran, shown here while with the Boston Celtics.
