Previewing the NCAA tournament The 68-team NCAA tournament field was announced Sunday, meaning Georgetown, Virginia and the nation’s powers learned the road they will have to take to get to the Final Four.

Georgetown earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament and will face Belmont in a Midwest Region first-round game on Friday in Columbus. The Wildcats lost to eventual national champion Connecticut in a national semifinal last year, and the teams would meet in a second round game Saturday should they both win on Thursday.

Syracuse's loss in the Big East tournament to Yancy Gates and Cincinnati was the Orange's second all season, and first with Fab Melo (51) in the lineup. The Orange still earned the top seed in the NCAA tournament's East Region, and will open against UNC Asheville on Thursday in Pittsburgh.
