Duties for Database Adminstration: The duties may include any of the following: Review, develop, and design data models using standard diagramming techniques, in conjunction with application development teams; create logical data models and translate into physical database structures that integrate with existing or proposed database structures. Monitor relational databases to optimize database performance, resource use, and physical implementations of databases; address a variety of database integration issues including migration between disparate databases, integration, maintenance/conversion, capacity planning issues, and new applications. Maintain development, test and production RDBMS environments. Monitor and maintain database security and database software, in cooperation with ISSMs. Provide advice to applications programmers in the effective use of database languages; advise on troubleshooting, exception processing needs and other data management issues. Maintain availability and integrity of databases through multiple access schemes; facilitate sharing of common data by overseeing proper key and index management and data dictionary maintenance. May evaluate and recommend testing and evaluation of new procedures, software, and hardware. Monitor and manage database backups, logs, and journals; install, maintain, and upgrade database software; restore and/or recover data as required. Create, procure and maintain various database related documents such as manuals and programmers' handbooks systems. DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR: Review, develop, and design data models using standard techniques in conjunction with application development teams. Experience configuring, managing and maintaining the operation of complex relational databases. Oracle RDBMS experience from version 9.1 through 10.2, Performance tuning of Oracle databases, Security, administration of Oracle databases, Expert PL/SQL programming, Experience with Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Grid Control, Oracle RMAN, Basic administrator skills with Solaris 8, 9, and 10 and Linux. Experience with UNIX shell scripting. Familiarity with Oracle ASO and VPD. |
