Job Description: The Electrical Engineering Technician is responsible for performing a survey on all electrical equipment including generators, Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVRs), power panels, transformers, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and power line filters that support the Post Communications Center (PCC). The qualified candidate must be knowledgeable of the customer's power distribution system infrastructure, able to perform standardized current load readings, calculate maximum generator load and recommend upgrades if the system is near full capacity. The qualified candidate must be able to prepare messages and utilize the customer's computer network to submit survey reports prior to departing each site. Experience working in an embassy environment and the willingness to travel are required. Required Skills: Ability to clearly articulate technical and non-technical subject matters, both verbally and in writing, to technical and non-technical Customer personnel; in-depth understanding of electrical engineering design and construction principles; familiarity with mechanical engineering and architectural design and construction principles; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; willingness to work as required to get the job done on time and within budget. Desired Skills: Significant prior experience with Government contracting practices and procedures; ability to develop gross design and construction cost estimates; working knowledge of Department of State Overseas Buildings Operations office requirements and procedures. Proficiency with AutoCAD; proficiency with Visio drafting software. Proficiency in customer's Project Management Contract process. Proficiency in MS Office applications, including MS Project and Lotus Notes. Working knowledge of client's communication applications for reporting to and from CONUS to OCONUS Security Clearance Requirements: TS/SCI with Full Scope Poly Weapons certification required (yes/no): No, but preferred Professional license or certification required (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc) (yes/no) If Yes, state requirement: Professional engineering licensure preferred but not required. OCONUS TDY required (yes/no): Yes (approx. 2 sites per week, approx. 4 weeks in duration, approx. 3 separate trips) including hazard duties areas. Required Education Level (including major): Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or technical discipline plus six (6) years relevant experience or equivalent education and experience is required.
