This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer to join a Top-Tier Systems Integrator in one of the most technologically advanced parts of GDIT - the Army Infrastructure Sector. This is an opportunity to join a new program for a design, build and install of an IT infrastructure to support more than 6,000 users. Work will be performed in Arlington (Rosslyn) Virginia, The Pentagon, or at the customer site in Alexandria/Falls Church (Skyline area). We are looking for a Network Engineer to document network layouts, load switch configurations, and install equipment in the new facility. The candidate will be required to support the efforts throughout the systems lifecycle, from requirements verification, architecture, design, build, test, and final deployment. This is a great opportunity to gain hands on experience with multi-vendor network equipment, and participate in lab activities. Applicants must have the ability to work autonomously or in a team environment and work closely with our Government client. 1. BS/BA degree desired. 2. Impeccable communication skills - written and verbal. Requires 2-5 years experience. Prior experience with all or most of the following is desired: 1. Designing, engineering, configuring, installing, testing, training, and documenting complex architectures and component configurations relating to routing/switching products and/or solutions. 2. Participate in design and peer reviews. 3. Must be able to engineer, prototype, stage, assemble, integrate, install, test, document, and sustain network equipment, and interconnecting infrastructure. 4. Analyze and transform operational and/or functional needs into solutions while remaining compliant with regulations, policies and procedures; document description of system parameters and integrate those parameters to optimize the overall solutions effectiveness and efficiency at task. 5. Willingness to work flexible hours. The IT Business does not always offer standard 9AM-5PM hours - all candidates must be willing to perform our services during normal business hours or after hours for system cutovers. 6. Willingness and ability to work at locations to be determined within the DC Metro area. These locations include Rosslyn VA, Arlington VA, the Pentagon, Crystal City, Fairfax, Oakton and the District of Columbia. Other locations may be required within the general vicinity. 7. Strong desire to learn the businesses, contribute to the growth of the business, and willing to exert themselves to learn all facets of the IT business. 8. Candidates are expected to immediately enhance their IT skills, and immerse themselves in study as needed to quickly learn the IT field. (GDIT has a Learning Management System that is available to all employees to enhance their skills). 9. Candidates are required to have one of the following certifications within three months of hire: Network+, Security+, A+, CISSP, CISA, SCNP, GSEC, SSCP, SCNA, GSE 10. Candidates are expected to have one or more of the following certifications within six months of hire: CCNA, ITIL Foundations, MCSE, VMware Certified Professional, or JNCIA. 11. All candidates are required to obtain a security clearance as a condition of employment. To obtain a security clearance, all candidates must be US Citizens and be prepared to pass a background check. For a security clearance, the application form for a background check requires personal identifying data, as well as information regarding residence, education and employment history; family and associates; and foreign connections/travel. Additionally, it asks for information about arrests, illegal drug involvement, financial delinquencies, mental health counseling, alcohol counseling, military service, prior clearances, civil court actions, and subversive activities. The number of years of information required on the form depends on the level of clearance involved. For instance, residence, education, and employment history for a Top Secret clearance requires ten years of information, whereas a Secret clearance requires seven years. 1. Understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). 2. DoD Secret security clearance. Top Secret preferred. Must be clearable to Top Secret with potential to Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). 3. Experience with DITSCAP/8500.2 IA controls desired. 4. Candidates are required to have one of the following certifications within three months of hire: Network+, Security+, A+, CISSP, CISA, SCNP, GSEC, SSCP, SCNA, GSE 5.
