MITRE, a "Fortune 100 Best Company To Work For, is seeking a Software Systems Engineer to provide consulting expertise on large software intensive systems across the full engineering lifecycle including software requirements, architecture, design, development and test.
Support the acquisition of complex software systems through the application of the latest software engineering concepts emerging from research, industry and academia. Provide software engineering consulting through analysis, prototyping and participation in technical forums to support the following:
* Requirements definition and refinement
* Software design and architecture validation
* Assessment and management of software risk and development of software quality metrics
* Software engineering process improvement
* Software innovation and technology insertion
* Concept validation and feasibility analysis
BS or equivalent and 1 year experience or MS or equivalent.
BS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field with some prior software systems engineering work experience in the DoD domain. MS degree preferred.
Fundamental knowledge of Software Engineering including requirements specification, modeling, architectures, analysis, and management.
* Strong fundamental knowledge of computer science, especially algorithms and data structures germane to the development of high-quality, efficient software.
* Software development experience using modern object-oriented methods (RUP/UML) and tools (Rational Rose, Systems Architect, Rhapsody).
* Understanding of DOD architecture framework and acquisition processes.
* Experience working within a full life cycle development methodology (Agile programming, Extreme Programming, Unified Process).
* Understanding of Capability Maturity Models (CMM and CMM Integrated CMMI.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
*This position will require overnight travel up to 10% of the time.
*Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. For this position, MITRE will consider only applicants with security clearances or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
