Lead Quality Assurance Analyst

Datatel's Software Quality Assurance team is looking for a Lead QA Analyst who will be instrumental in strategizing and leading the testing of our Human Resources application suite.  In addition to providing ongoing leadership in the HR QA area, this position will be leveraged as a key resource to implement strategic projects across QA - metrics, test case management, reporting, etc. - to provide additional visibility and efficiency in QA efforts. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing leadership to assigned QA area, while simultaneously serving in a hands-on senior tester capacity.
  • Play an essential role in the design and development of new testing strategies and the enhancement of our existing test approaches.  Look to continuously improve upon test processes/procedures, efficiency, and test coverage capabilities.
  • Work in close partnership with the project teams to analyze project/product requirements and/or testing needs in order to create and execute a comprehensive test strategy including both functional and technical/system-level testing.  Identify application areas/components that are higher risk and high priority, and determine and communicate scope and limitations of testing. 
  • Estimate work effort for projects, develop QA timelines, and manage work to meet the project schedules.
  • As part of the project team, actively participate in software requirements, design, and code reviews to provide early and continuous quality feedback.
  • Setup and maintain test environments, execute tests, and document test results.  Document defects and track issue resolution. 
  • Lead defect review meetings and QA huddles.
  • Work in conjunction with the Automation team to incorporate flexible and maintainable automation tools to increase overall test coverage and improve testing efficiencies.
  • Ensure that the progress and health of QA efforts can be clearly tracked and articulated through comprehensive and consistent testing and defect metrics.
  • Create and ensure high-quality QA deliverables - Test Strategy/Plan, RTM, Test Summary Report.
  • Work effectively with members of the project team to ensure project success and champion high quality throughout the project.

    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5-10 years of in-depth experience and demonstrated proficiency with QA methodology, process, and deliverables
  • At least two years of demonstrated success in a QA team lead role, leading teams of more than three testers
  • At least three years of experience successfully designing and implementing automated testing frameworks and solutions
  • Highly motivated self-starter with advanced capability to quickly learn, and work with, new technologies and complex technical environments, including a variety of databases and operating systems
  • Proven written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, strong teamwork and the ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships
  • Ability to work hands-on and also provide leadership in the implementation of complex testing solutions.  Display a high-level of initiative and troubleshooting skills in stressful situations. 
  • Able to work independently to juggle multiple simultaneous priorities with minimal supervision and keep stakeholders informed of progress toward goals.
  • Experience testing complex multi-tiered web based systems and complex data-driven applications
  • High-level of proficiency in relational databases and SQL development
  • Test Management tool proficiency (Quality Center, Test Director, Rational, open source, etc.).  Microsoft Team System - Test Edition is a plus
  • Experience in testing ERP or HR systems a plus
  • Knowledge of the higher education market space is a plus

This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office and is not open to remote status or relocation.
