Coal demand outpaces supply in India

Coal remains the key to India’s power sector, the main raw material for most of its power stations, but it is a sector in disarray. The nation produced enough to meet most of its domestic coal needs in 2003, but by 2011 the gap between production and consumption had grown substantially. Read related article.
