Coalition forces in Afghanistan

By the end of September, 23,000 U.S. troops are scheduled to withdraw from Afghanistan, and U.S. officials have said they hope to transition remaining troops to an advisory role by mid- to late 2013. U.S. troops could still be involved in combat operations, with Afghan forces, after the switch. Read related article.
