About 20,000 Haitians will be moved from the Champ de Mars in front of Haiti’s National Palace, two years after the devastating earthquake that crippled the country. The government says the tarp shanties are overcrowded fire hazards that will blow down in the first hurricane. There is no running water or electricity. There is another reason, too: The camp is an embarrassment.
