Olympic construction besets Russia’s Sochi

Sochi is being transformed by the construction of new roads, train stations, high-rise apartments and power plants.

Alexander Dzhadze has lived on this street in Sochi’s Mirny neighborhood all of his 64 years. Now most of the community has been torn down to make way for venues for the 2014 Winter Olympics, and Dzhadze’s house (the small white building behind him) sits on a street falling into disrepair. A foundation wall for a highway interchange hems in the neighborhood.
