Yemen’s elections

The Yemeni people voted Tuesday to remove President Ali Abdullah Saleh from power after a 33-year rule. Vice President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi ran in the uncontested race, a deal brokered to help stave off a civil war in the country.

Residents of the northern Yemeni province of Saada, where only one polling station was open, protest against participation in the presidential elections.
