Washington Area Bicyclist Association Changes Start / Finish for September 23 Ride

WASHINGTON (September 20, 2001) --- The Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) announced that the start/finish for the SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2001 Giant Food BikeDC ride has changed to RFK Stadium. Riders are asked to not go to 14th and Pennsylvania Avenue, the original start / finish.

Most of the anticipated 7500 riders will be given an American Flag to attach to their bikes. The self-paced, car-free bike ride will help raise awareness for the bicycle safety and advocacy programs of WABA. Following is a summary of Giant Food BikeDC:

WHAT: Giant Food Bike DC

WHEN: Sunday, September, 23, 2001 Beginning at 8:00 a.m. (Registration begins at 6:30 a.m.)

WHERE: Start/Finish at RFK Stadium

WHY: To raise awareness for the safety and advocacy programs of the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) and to perpetuate Washington, D.C. as a “bicycle-friendly” city.

WHO: Over 7,500 riders of all skill levels, ages and backgrounds are anticipated
