In July of 2008, Goli Sheikholeslami was named General Manager of washingtonpost.com. In this role she leads the day-to-day operations of washingtonpost.com. Prior to becoming General Manager, she served as the vice president of classifieds and local products for washingtonpost.com where she was responsible for directing the company's classifieds and local businesses. In this capacity, she oversaw the expansion of Washingtonpost.com's local marketplaces, including the sites job board, real estate and rentals section, entertainment guide (City Guide), cars section and shopping section.
Prior to joining washingtonpost.com, Sheikholeslami spent three years as a member of the management team of The Washington Post newspaper's classified advertising department.
Sheikholeslami came to the Washington Post from publishing powerhouse Conde Nast. As senior vice president and managing director of Style.com, Sheikholeslami was responsible for overall development, creative direction and day-to-day operations of Style.com, the online home of Conde Nast's premiere fashion publications: "Vogue" and "W." During her tenure from 1997 to 2002, Sheikholeslami also served as general manager of Conde Nast's online division, CondeNet. In this capacity, she was responsible for the daily operations of CondeNet and all strategic and developmental initiatives for the portfolio of web properties: Epicurious.com, Concierge.com, Swoon.com, Phys.com and Style.com.
Sheikholeslami started her Internet career in 1994 as manager of planning and finance for Time Warner's digital marketing group where she helped define the cable division's web strategy. Before embarking on a business career at major media companies, Sheikholeslami worked in the entertainment industry; first producing documentary films and then for the cable network Court TV.
She holds an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia and is a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service with a BS in international economics.
