The Online Journalism Awards, emblematic of the best in online journalism, were handed out by the Online News Association (ONA) at its annual conference at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Sept 13.

The Pulitzer Prize is an American award regarded as the highest national honor in print journalism. Prizes are awarded yearly in twenty-one categories.


This is only the fourth time in history that a newspaper has won more than three of the 14 journalism prizes in a single year. The Washington Post did this once before in 2006.

Once again, the Best of the Web Awards recognized the Newsweek and Slate brands as leaders in excellence and innovation online. In addition, Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive’s CEO, Caroline Little, was inducted into min’s Digital Hall of Fame. The Digital Hall of Fame honors “the people who believed in the power and potential of the Internet before it became de rigueur, making online leaps of faith that paid off—and big.”
