TastePost Creates New Program for Food and Drink Lovers

WASHINGTON- January 13, 2009—The Washington Post today announces the launch of TastePost, a new program for Greater Metro area residents who love food, wine, beer and spirits as well as entertaining and socializing. TastePost provides exclusive access to special deals, expert recommendations from the Post’s Food section and special events, giving members an opportunity to discover new tastes as well refine current ones.

“TastePost brings together readers who enjoy entertaining, dining out, and trying new food and drink,” said Candy Lee, Vice President of Marketing for The Washington Post. “It connects people to the tastes and flavors they love, giving them expert guidance, great recommendations and terrific deals.”

TastePost creates interactive community that encourages discussion among members, prompting an ongoing exchange of ideas about what to eat, what to drink and how to best pair your food to please the palate.

Some of the member benefits include:

  • Featured Selections: Each month, experts from The Washington Post Food section provide suggestions on two new great wines, beers or spirits for TastePost members to try. TastePost members receive discounts on these selections, which can be purchased at local retailers. The initial months feature some famous French wines from Cote du Rhone, Burgundy, and Alsace.

Discovery Networks for Spirits, Cocktails and Beer will be available soon.
  • My Bar and Cellar: This wine organizer allows members to keep track of their favorite wines or wines they’d like to try using pictures, labels and tags. The bar organizer will allow members to note favorite cocktails, spirits and beers too.
  • Food & Entertaining: Food and drink experts from The Washington Post give members tried and tested ideas for all of their entertaining needs.
  • Tasty Invitations: TastePost members are invited to attend an array of local food and drink events, from TastePost Grand Tastings at The Washington Post to area festivals and private restaurant tastings.
