Technical Specifications

Thank you for choosing to advertise with Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive.

Please follow the guidelines below for ad specifications and file transfer to help us ensure that your campaign begins on schedule. Normally, creative must be received at least 2 business days before scheduled start date. In the case of Rich Media, creative must be received 5 days prior to the start date.

We will accept ads in most formats, including GIF, JPEG, animated GIF, Java, and Shockwave. Rich Media ads can run on every page throughout the washingtonpost.com site with the exception of email products. All Rich Media must have a back up gif and must be user initiated. Some Rich Media types can only be viewed in specific browsers.

Non-rich Media: 20K; Rich Media: Up to 25k initial load. Up to 3 additional loads of up to 50k each, may be initiated after a user moves their cursor over or clicks on the Big Box. 4 loop maximum.

Billboard 760 x 60 pixels Non-Rich Media: 15k. Rich Media: Up to 20k initial load. Up to 3 additional loads of up to 50k each may be initiated after a user moves their cursor over or clicks on the ad. 4 loop maximum.

Email Products Banners: 468X60 pixels. Standard Sponsor Bar: 446x33 pixels. Advertisers' logo must have a max height of 31 pixels.
***Due to sizing constraints or provided artwork, logo specifications may change slightly due to logo size and shape.

Text Sponsorships: maximum of 5 lines, with a max of 70 characters (including spaces) per line. A URL link is included in 6th line.


Banners: 15K Sponsorship Bar: 4K; Sponsorship Box 4K
