We aim to open a new market every year for the next three years," says Guillermo Menendez, head of household plastics firm Plastymet. Quite a leap given that for years most of El Salvador's plastics companies considered themselves too small to be touched by globalization.

"We've had the Central American market covered for a long time now. This will help us take the giant step into the U.S," adds Mr. Menendez, thankful of government attempts to cut red tape on exports and a firm supporter of the proposed FTA with the United States.
