Israeli agricultural technology has made dessert areas bloom. Now the same irrigation techniques are applied in Central America by Riegos Modernos, an Israeli company active across the region.
Alberto Alfaro, who runs operations in El Salvador, sees great potential in the deep-seated changes affecting his country's agriculture. "World coffee and sugar prices are at their lowest in a long time, but new crops like fruit, cut flowers and others are providing opportunities to turn El Salvador into a regional leader in agricultural exports," he explains.
"These changes require cutting edge technology and that is where Riegos Modernos comes in. We're introducing techniques such as drip irrigation to help bring the country's agriculture into the 21st century."
