VDOT says it is surveying signs in the Pentagon area and will upgrade them by the end of the year.
I hope so.
Route 28 Improvements
What intersection in Loudoun County had the most traffic accidents last year?
You're right if you guessed the intersection of Route 28 and Church and Waxpool roads, where there were 99 accidents in 2004, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
The good news here is that a public-private partnership is working to improve this and five other intersections in the Route 28 corridor. Traffic lights will be eliminated and roadways will be elevated to help keep traffic moving. The Route 28 and Church and Waxpool roads interchange is scheduled to be finished this fall.
The other Route 28 interchanges, and their completion dates, are:
Route 606 (Old Ox Road) -- spring 2005.
Route 846 (Sterling Boulevard) -- fall 2006.
McLearen Road -- fall 2006.
Westfields Boulevard -- fall 2005.
Air and Space Museum Parkway -- completed.
This is an intensive construction pace, and an impressive one, by the public-private partnership. What do you think of the effort?
End Hybrid Exemption
Dear Dr. Gridlock:
The Washington Post reported that a Virginia transportation task force has found that hybrid vehicles have made carpool lanes nearly as congested as the regular lanes.
