It was not yet Thanksgiving, one of those almost balmy autumn days that make overcoats superfluous. Yet as Sue Falk stood before a table of men's slippers in a Tysons Corner department store, she had Christmas on her mind.
"He'll love these," cooed Falk, of McLean, as she selected a pair of shearling slippers for the 84-year-old father of her boyfriend.
There are 29 days between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, and Falk does not plan to spend very many of them battling parking lot gridlock and long cashier lines in search of the perfect gift. She already has finished the bulk of her Christmas shopping, ensuring her holiday will be a leisurely one.
