Talkbackers seem slightly confused over the activity at Redskins Park last week. Talk of trades, then actual trades, trading up, trading down, press releases and more press releases to counter previous press releases. I can't keep up.
One would only expect from a hack journalist your Gator jealousy of the Miami football program. You guys can't get over that a small private school with limited local support can continue to produce the greatest NFL players and pile up national championships.
Santana Moss and Sean Taylor will do just fine training at Miami where the majority of the other alumni greats work out in the offseason. That includes Ray Lewis, Willis McGahee, Edgerrin James, Warren Sapp, Jonathan Vilma, D.J. Williams, Ken Dorsey, Dan Morgan, Ed Reed, Vince Wilfork, Jeremy Shockey, Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Bubba Franks, Phillip Buchanon, Micheal Barrow and Jessie Armstead, to name just a few. That sounds like a pretty select group to train with.
You should be ashamed.
David Schaffel, Miami
As a U-Florida alumnus, class of '63, I cannot disguise my jealousy of your team's success. But it would be nice if Taylor and Moss would report to work, as requested by their boss, in the town where they actually work.
After months of stalling, Orioles owner Peter Angelos assigned the Nats to WDCA-20 (UPN). Guess what? Comcast, the cable TV outlet for the Baltimore part of the region, doesn't carry Channel 20! So, the Nationals are not seen by most viewers in Angelos's home turf. Why am I not surprised?
Michael Berla, Columbia
I simply cannot believe Angelos would do such a thing.
I've been a D.C. sports fan since 1948, living in Washington until 1962 when I moved to Manila in the Philippines. I have followed the Redskins, Wizards, Capitals and D.C. United, as well as my alma mater, Georgetown. You can imagine how happy I am having the Nationals in Washington. I follow them on the Internet and compute earned run averages and keep up with the batting averages with my "Pete Runnels" plastic calculator. I also have started eating hot dogs and Cracker Jack.
Felix JC Teodoro, Manila-Alabang, the Philippines
Let's get that Pete Runnels calculator on eBay and see how we do.
