Kurt Warner agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals yesterday, beginning what's likely to be a chain reaction of signings among the prominent veteran quarterbacks on the NFL's free agent market.
Jeff Garcia, Brad Johnson and Jay Fiedler probably will pick new teams in the coming days. Warner, who spent this past season with the New York Giants mentoring Eli Manning, grabbed what appeared to be the best remaining chance at a starting job next season.
Detroit, Chicago and the Giants are among the teams still looking for quarterbacks. But Manning clearly is the Giants' starter entering next season. Rex Grossman likely will reclaim the starting job in Chicago, and the Lions say they're sticking with Joey Harrington.
