DISCARD CONTAINER SOIL from last season before replanting this spring. Old soil may contain diseases and fertilizer salts and gets dense. Potting mixes are available from garden centers, or make your own with one third each of peat moss, perlite and potting compost. Add a little powdered limestone and bloodmeal. The old soil can be added to the compost pile.
