Mulrooney, Ruiz Lead Dallas at Home

Richard Mulrooney and Carlos Ruiz each had a goal and an assist last night to lead Dallas past visiting Salt Lake, 3-0.

Mulrooney's goal came on a direct free kick in the fourth minute. Ruiz scored in the 63rd minute on a penalty kick.

Eddie Johnson scored for Dallas in the 35th minute after taking a pass from Mulrooney, dribbling past Salt Lake defender Marlon Rojas and firing a left-footed shot into the right corner of the net from about 12 yards.

GALAXY 3, CHIVAS USA 1: Cobi Jones, Peter Vagenas and Jovan Kirovski scored goals to help host Los Angeles beat Chivas.

With a packed crowd of more than 27,000 fans watching the first meeting between the city rivals, the Galaxy built a 3-0 lead in the first 32 minutes.

EARTHQUAKES 3, WIZARDS 2: San Jose goalkeeper Pat Onstad stopped Josh Wolff's penalty kick in the second half and the Earthquakes held on to beat visiting Kansas City.

RAPIDS 2, CREW 0: In Denver, Pablo Mastroeni scored in the second minute, helping the Rapids to a victory over Columbus.
