An e-mail last week had it that Gutierrez would go first to Europe. That seems to be the case. The plane leaves Monday for beautiful Brussels, where Gutierrez will lead a delegation to an international conference called the Earth Observation Summit.

The Ohio Dems, so excited by their organizing effort in 2004, are expanding their permanent field staff for local and state elections in 2005 and 2006, according to an e-mail circulating among campaign alums from Ohio Democratic Party Chair Dennis White.
"I want you to consider running," White said, "where there are open seats in your area." There are lots of great jobs to be had -- mayor, council member, township trustee, municipal judge or coroner. Sign up now.
Of course, you could get hammered once again . . .
Change of Address
Catching up. . . . Brian Gunderson, chief of staff to U.S. trade rep Robert B. Zoellick and before that a top aide to then-House Majority Leader Richard K.Armey (R-Tex.), has moved to the State Department to be chief of staff to Secretary Condoleezza Rice.
Zoellick's hearing to be deputy secretary of state is to be next week.
And it's official: John Feehery, longtime press secretary to House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), is executive vice president and chief communications officer at the Motion Picture Association of America.
Fielding Questions in Another Setting
Kevin Madden, former communications director for Rep. John E. Sweeney (R-N.Y.) and more recently a spokesman for the Bush campaign in 2004, overseeing the major battleground states of Ohio and Pennsylvania, is settling in as press secretary at the Justice Department.
