In order to get over a divorce, writer's block and her depression, 35-year-old Frances Mayes (Diane Lane) takes the advice of her best friend Patti and heads for Tuscany, Italy for a 10-day, well-deserved rest. It's there, on a whim, that Frances buys a villa and decides to begin her life anew. She makes new friends but when alone she's fearful that her new ambitions might not be realized.
Director Audrey Wells was online Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 2:15 p.m. ET, to talk about the film.
Lane was nominated for her performance as an adulterous wife in last year's "Unfaithful," which re-teamed her with Richard Gere. Her long list of movies also includes "The Glass House," "The Perfect Storm," "A Walk on the Moon" and "My Dog Skip," plus the Francis Ford Coppola films, "The Outsiders," Rumble Fish" and "The Cotton Club."
Wells directed and wrote the screenplay for Guinevere in 1999 and was screenwriter on "How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days," "Disney's The Kid," "Runaway Bride," and "George of the Jungle," among others.
