There's an American Idol in each of us -- at least, that's what judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson want you to think. The duo is attempting to cash in on the hit Fox show with "Ultimate Voice Coach" ($29.95), a DVD-CD set designed to turn anyone into a bona fide singing sensation. But while Abdul and Jackson have plastered their names all over the product, they don't appear to have much to do with the goods themselves: The three-hour DVD features singing lessons from vocal coaches Gary Catona and Ron Anderson, who between them have polished the pipes of the likes of Tony Bennett and J. Lo (the two CDs offer extra practice lessons and karaoke tunes). After buying the trio at www.ultimatevoicecoach.com, you can sign up for interactive lessons with Catona and Anderson and even get your voice rated online by the public. All of which sounds well and good, but you have to wonder: Where's Simon Cowell? John Maynard
