It's official: U2 is coming to town, bringing its Vertigo world tour to MCI Center on Oct. 19 and 20. Ticket prices range from $52.50 to a whopping $163 (not including service charges) and go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday through all Ticketmaster outlets and at MCI's box office, with a ticket lottery at the box office at 8 a.m. . . .

Tori Amos will be at Barnes & Noble in Georgetown at 6 p.m. March 17 to sign copies of her new autobiography, "Tori Amos: Piece by Piece," as well as her latest album, "The Beekeeper." The event is free, but you'll need a special wristband to get in; pick one up at the store (3040 M St. NW) starting at 9 a.m. that day . . .

Veteran singer-songwriter John Prine and Poet Laureate Ted Kooser will discuss popular song lyrics and contemporary poetry tonight at 6:45 at the Library of Congress's Coolidge Auditorium (10 First St. SE). Free tickets to the event (limit two per person) will be handed out at the door at 5 p.m.
