Data: Maryland can atone for what has been a frustrating season by beating the Horned Frogs and advancing to the NIT semifinals in New York City, although players say winning the NIT will do nothing to erase the hurt from missing the NCAA tournament. The postseason run has been somewhat of a preview of next season's team for the Terrapins. Junior college transfer Sterling Ledbetter has been able to play significant minutes at point guard because junior John Gilchrist has been sidelined with an ankle injury. Gilchrist says he plans to attend NBA pre-draft camps and those close to the player do not expect him to return for his senior season. Freshman James Gist keyed a 16-0 Maryland run in the first half of its second-round comeback victory over Davidson. Maryland has fallen behind in both of its NIT games. The winner of today's game plays South Carolina at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.
