Landon Donovan scored both goals in the San Jose Earthquakes' 2-0 victory over the Wizards yesterday in Kansas City, Mo.
Donovan opened the scoring in the 27th minute when he headed a pass from Brian Mullan past Wizards goalie Tony Meola for a 1-0 lead.
In the 59th minute, Donovan outraced defender Shavar Thomas to a ball in the penalty area and again beat Meola for his sixth goal of the season.
Donovan has six goals in his past three games at Arrowhead Stadium.
RAPIDS 3, FIRE 0: In Chicago, Mark Chung had a goal and an assist to lead Colorado past the Fire.
Chung opened the scoring on Kyle Beckerman's assist in the 50th minute, lifting the Rapids (7-7-8) to just their second win in eight matches.
GALAXY 0, CREW 0: Kevin Hartman made seven saves for Los Angeles, and Jon Busch had two saves for Columbus as the Galaxy and Crew played to a tie in Carson, Calif.
Hartman earned his fifth shutout of the season for the Galaxy, which is winless in five games.
The Crew had a 12-7 advantage in shots, a 7-3 lead in shots on goal and an 8-6 edge in corner kicks.
