The MetroStars out-shot Columbus 20-6, but Crew goaltender Matt Jordan had several good stops.

GALAXY 2, BURN 0: In Carson, Calif., Jovan Kirovski scored two goals to lead Los Angeles.

Los Angeles took sole possession of second place in the Western Conference and moved within three points of first-place Kansas City. The two teams will play next Saturday in Kansas City, Mo., to conclude the regular season. The Galaxy would win the conference by defeating the Wizards by at least two goals.

EARTHQUAKES 0, WIZARDS 0: San Jose failed to clinch a playoff berth against visiting Kansas City. San Jose leads fifth-place Dallas by two points in the Western Conference. Those teams will meet in Dallas next week to end the regular season.
