. . . Watched the Plaid Pageantry of Alexandria's Scottish Christmas Walk Parade

Sunday, November 30, 2003; Page C02

. . . watched the plaid pageantry of Alexandria's Scottish Christmas WalkParade through the streets of Old Town. The annual parade features Scottish dancers, dogs in tartan sweaters and bagpipe bands, as well as Santa Claus and slow-rolling antique cars. The view from the sidewalk is free, but an outdoor market and other events benefit social services programs of the Campagna Center.

Parading Scottish deerhounds were admired during last year's event in Alexandria. (Lois Raimondo -- The Washington Post)
