An Aug. 22 article incorrectly stated the cost of Sen. John F. Kerry's health care plan without an estimated $300 billion in proposed savings. The cost would be nearly $1 trillion.

In an Aug. 21 Sports article, two-man canoe gold medalists Pavol and Peter Hochschorner were identified as Slovenian. They are Slovakian.

In some editions of the Aug. 21 Style section, an article on auditions for "American Idol" erroneously identified the site of the tryouts as the Ramada Renaissance Hotel. The hotel is now owned by Marriott and is known as the Renaissance Washington D.C. Hotel.
