Mount Hebron Goes From One Big Game to Another

Wednesday, April 20, 2005; Page D07

It didn't take long for Mount Hebron's top-ranked girls' lacrosse team to get past its 14-9 victory over Roland Park at Johns Hopkins University's Homewood Field on Saturday.

"Our team looks forward to playing big games," Coach Brooke Kuhl-McClelland said. "And now that this one's over, we have another one to look forward to."

Kuhl-McClelland was referring to Saturday's nonleague game at 10 a.m. against No. 2 St. Stephen's/St. Agnes (13-0) in the first round of Mount Hebron's spring tournament. The Vikings (6-0) have won 66 consecutive games dating from a 10-9 loss to the Saints in May 2001.

It will be the teams' first meeting since Mount Hebron's 11-7 victory in 2002 after Kuhl-McClelland and St. Stephen's/St. Agnes Coach Kathy Jenkins could not agree on a date to play in each of the previous two seasons.

"It's a huge game, and it depends if our girls play their 'A' game," Jenkins said. "We're young, but we're athletic, and since we only start two or three seniors, we have nothing to lose."
