. . . brought in the new year at a festival of family fun. This year marks the 10th time the streets of Alexandria will be abuzz with performances on New Year's Eve during First Night, an alcohol-free event dedicated to the arts. Stroll along King Street stopping in at various musical and theatrical venues and bring in 2005 with a fireworks display by the Masonic Temple. Annapolis and Leesburg are hosting their own versions of the event.

First Night Alexandria will be Friday in downtown Alexandria. Admission buttons are $15 and are available online and at some shops. Children ages 12 and younger may attend free. For more information, visit www.firstnightalexandria.org.
