First Round: Los Angeles def. Colorado in two-game, total-goals series, 2-1; Kansas City def. San Jose, 3-2.

Of Note: Both teams responded from Game 1 losses to advance. The Wizards, first-place finishers during the regular season, used a 3-0 victory at home to overcome their two-goal deficit against the defending champion Earthquakes. The Galaxy, which finished second in the West standings, earned a 2-0 home win over the Rapids last weekend.

Prediction: Wizards, 2-0.
