. . . uttered the phrase, "Let's meet at Kramerbooks." A veritable landmark on Dupont Circle, the granddaddy of the bookstore/cafe combo is a perennial hot spot among the transient populace of Hill staffers and college students. Known almost entirely by word of mouth, this institution draws most new residents of Washington at least once, and often within a few weeks of arriving. It's a perfect place to begin or end an evening out, relax on a weekend morning or just drop in solo when you have a few minutes to grab a good book and maybe a cappuccino. Or, if you're feeling a bit peckish, the cafe offers a full complement of food and drink.

Kramerbooks has fed many a body and mind in nearly 30 years in D.C.
