Internosis Inc., an information technology company in Arlington, plans to move its headquarters to Greenbelt in October. The relocation will bring 170 jobs to Prince George's County.
Anthony M. Corbi, the company's chief technology officer, said Internosis executives conducted an extensive search for new space and settled on the Greenbelt location because of its proximity to existing customers and major highways.
To entice the company to move from Virginia, the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development said it arranged to give the company a $200,000 loan, a $75,000 grant from the Maryland Industrial Training Program for employee training and a $20,000 grant from Prince George's County. As it adds new employees, Internosis also may qualify for up to $250,000 in tax credits.
"This is the first of what we see as a turnaround in economic development for Prince George's County," Kwasi Holman, president of the county's Economic Development Corp., said in a statement yesterday.
Corbi said the move allows the privately held Internosis "to serve our clients throughout the Washington area and also allows us the opportunity to recruit in areas that we don't currently have the opportunity. We are now able to recruit people from Baltimore in addition to Virginia, D.C. and Annapolis."
Four-year-old Internosis has about 300 employees nationally, most in the Washington area. The company provides technical services to help government and commercial clients better use Microsoft products. High-profile customers include the Air Force, the Interor Department and Sunoco Inc.
The company's new headquarters at the Golden Triangle Building in Greenbelt will contain 19,000 square feet of office space. Internosis said it expects to have 250 employees in the office by 2006. Internosis also will maintain a small office in Northern Virginia.
