Hear About Metro At Town Meeting

The Metro board will hold a town meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at George Mason High School in Falls Church.

Members of the regional transit board and senior Metro managers will be available to talk to the public about issues relating to Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess -- including future projects, safety and security, funding and employment opportunities.

Bob Levey, senior vice president for development at Washington Hospital Center, will serve as moderator. An open house will precede the event at 6 p.m.

Public Comment Invited On Popes Head Creek

County officials are holding a workshop Tuesday in Clifton to get public comments about the proposed Popes Head Creek Watershed Plan.

The plan outlines problems identified in the watershed and proposed solutions to protect and restore streams and related natural resources. Popes Head Creek starts in southwest Fairfax City and flows into Bull Run and Hemlock Overlook Regional Park.

The workshop will provide an overview of the project and management strategies developed by county staff, consultants, residents and members of the Popes Head Creek advisory committee.

Compare the Candidates For 45th District Primary

The six candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for the 45th District seat in the state House of Delegates are scheduled to participate in a candidates forum from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Mount Vernon Governmental Center.

The candidates are David Englin, Libby Garvey, Richard Hobson, Jim Lay, Laura Mandala and Elsie Mosqueda. The primary is June 14.

Area voters will have an opportunity to compare the candidates' platforms and hear their views on a variety of topics.

The Hollin Hills Area Democratic Club and the Democratic captains of the Belleview, Grosvenor, Kirkside and Marlan precincts are sponsoring the forum.

At Towers Park in Oakton, A Day for Dedication

The county Park Authority will dedicate the recently renovated Towers Park in Oakton at 1 p.m. Saturday.
