High on Espadrilles

Fashion's inevitable cycle strikes again: Espadrilles are back.

"They're huge for this spring-summer season," says Rebecca Resnick, Teen Vogue senior accessories editor.

The shoes -- usually with a fabric upper and wedge rope sole -- are just another example of the ethnic/back-to-basics/natural trend infiltrating closets. Designers from Payless to Marc Jacobs have weighed in.

Espadrilles are adaptable. "They look great with everything from jeans to skirts," says Resnick. Slip on a pair that lace up the ankle and it's instant sexy. "It dresses up the leg," she says.

Plus, says Resnick, "with wedges you can have the height without wearing a painful stiletto."
