SICKLE CELL DISEASE

May 10, 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Howard University Hospital, Ambulatory Care Center, Auditorium, 2041 Georgia Ave. NW. The Roland B. Scott Memorial Sickle Cell Disease Symposium will be led by Graham R. Serjeant, keynote speaker and professor emeritus on the faculty of medical sciences at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica and William P. Winter, deputy director of Howard's Center for Sickle Cell Disease. The Department of Pediatrics and Child Health at the Center and the D.C. STROLLER FITNESS

May 7, 10 a.m. National Mall (on Jefferson Drive near the National Air and Space Museum). A class, sponsored by Stroller Strides, for moms interested in power-walking with their children in strollers. WEIGHT-LOSS SURGERY

May 4, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. George Washington University Hospital, 900 23rd St. NW, Lincoln Room. A seminar, sponsored by George Washington University Hospital, for anyone severely overweight to hear the benefits and risks associated with weight-loss surgeries.
