Miami Dolphins Coach Dave Wannstedt is expected to resign today, according to the Miami Herald and several Florida television stations. His team has a 1-8 record.
Wannstedt met last night at the team's complex with owner Wayne Huizenga, who confirmed that an announcement will be made today.

"Dave called me and we got together, but I'm not going to comment at this point," Huizenga said.
The Miami Herald, citing anonymous club sources and an NFL source, reported that defensive coordinator Jim Bates will be named interim coach.
It's unclear whether Wannstedt was forced to resign midway through a dismal season, which began with the retirement of star running back Ricky Williams and has left the team with the NFL's worst record.
Wannstedt barely avoided being fired after last season, when Miami failed to reach the playoffs for the second year in a row. Huizenga decided to keep Wannstedt but stripped him of authority over personnel decisions.
• GIANTS: New York defensive end Michael Strahan will miss the remainder of the season because of a torn pectoral muscle. An MRI exam confirmed the tear, suffered during Sunday's 28-21 loss to the Chicago Bears, and Strahan is scheduled to undergo surgery tomorrow. The Giants also lost their other starting defensive end, Keith Washington, for the rest of the season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Strahan last missed a game in 1995. He had his first sack in five games Sunday and had a modest four sacks halfway through the Giants' season. But he remains a top pass rusher, with 18 1/2 sacks last season.
• JAGUARS: Jacksonville quarterback Byron Leftwich probably will miss two games because of his injured left knee, Coach Jack Del Rio said, but doctors don't believe he'll have to undergo surgery.
Del Rio said he expects Leftwich to return to the lineup Nov. 28 at Minnesota. It's possible but unlikely that Leftwich (H.D. Woodson) will make it back for a Nov. 21 game against Tennessee, according to Del Rio.
David Garrard will start in Leftwich's absence, beginning with Sunday's game against Detroit. The Jaguars are coming off a bye week.
• BRONCOS: Denver Coach Mike Shanahan said he has not been contacted about the job opening at the University of Florida and has no intention of leaving the Broncos.
"I have four years left on my contract here and when I signed that contract, I told them I was committed to staying here for the whole thing," said Shanahan, who is in his 10th year as Denver's coach. "My name is not on Florida's list."
Shanahan spoke with Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley when Steve Spurrier resigned in January 2002, and could have had the Gators job had he wanted it.
