Researchers at the George Washington University Hospital Weight Management Program are seeking additional volunteers for their study of the surgically implanted gastric pacemaker. Study participants must meet the following criteria:
• Be between the ages of 18 and 65.

In some editions of the Post, an Aug. 3 Health article about the experimental use of a gastric pacemaker to stimulate weight loss failed to fully identify George Washington University Hospital bariatric surgeon Fred Brody, who is scheduled to implant the device in a patient later this month.

• Have a body mass index between 35 and 55.
• Women of childbearing age must have adequate birth control to avoid getting pregnant during the two-year course of the study.
• Have been obese for five years or more.
• Agree to follow a diet component.
• Plan to be geographically stable for the next two years.
• Be willing to travel to the hospital for periodic follow-up.
• Have had no previous gastric surgery.
